Twin Cities Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest seems to become a bigger holiday every year, and what could be bigger than a party at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds? But this isn't your basic beer bash—it's a full-on tribute to German food and culture. The headliners each night are a troupe of lederhosen-wearing polka players called The Jolly Huntsmen. Daytime performers include the 30-piece Bavarian Musikmeisters, as well as Alpensterne, a band known for its yodeling and 15-foot Swiss Alphorn. Summit Oktoberfest is the beer of choice at the fest, and the featured wine is by Pedroncelli, a family-owned California vineyard. The event is based in the Progress Center, the building that housed exhibits on renewable energy and green living during the State Fair.
