TU Dance: Sense(ability)
The TU of TU Dance are Uri Sands and Toni Pierce Sands, a dynamic couple who have charged the local landscape of their art with powerfully poetic dances. In Uri Sands's choreography, the dancer's body becomes a kind of labyrinth where energy circles, strides, oozes, and sputters around, mutating into something rich and strange. The journey of his most provocative works is a joyous, jammed, multidimensional excursion. Two years in the making, his new "Sense(ability)" explores the Ayurvedic synergy between the senses and the elements. Water is paired with taste, fire with sight, the ether with sound, earth with smell, and air with touch. Whew! Expect a heady trip for all five senses to an original score by Chris Thomson.
