With the 2012 Minnesota Fringe Festival in our taillights, it's time to revisit one of the big hits of Fringe past. Trick Boxing made its debut at the 2002 festival. In the decade since, it has gone on to play around the world, including runs throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Crafted by Megan McClellan and Brian Sostek (under the Sossy Mechanics banner), the piece follows an apple seller who is tricked into becoming a boxer and fights his way to the championship. The pair first met as members of Flying Foot Forum, and have taken their dance and movement shows in fresh directions through a number of collaborations. Trick Boxing earned accolades during its first Twin Cities run, and has been a critical and audience favorite in the following years. (Photo by Ed Bock)
