Tommy Savitt

Comedian Tommy Savitt grew up in New York and now lives in L.A. He entertains audiences everywhere in between. City Pages tracked him down in Saskatchewan. "I'm doing the Great Plains Comedy Festival," he reports via cell phone from a restaurant in Saskatoon. "It's a lot of fun, like an elongated bachelor party. I've been coming to this festival for many, many years. It's nice. I can get a taste of Saskatoonian beverages; I'm enjoying a Saskatoon iced tea right now." The international exposure fits right into his wheelhouse onstage. "I talk about relationships. I talk about me running for office. I talk about my agenda, and my view of the United States and other countries. I'm an enlightener onstage, a self-professed guru." A former attorney, Savitt started doing standup during his second year in law school. He graduated, and even practiced law for a while in Connecticut. "But it wasn't my passion," he says. "My passion is comedy. I have no regrets in life." 18+; 21+ later shows.
Wednesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 10:30 p.m. Starts: June 30. Continues through July 3, 2010
