If you’re looking for gift ideas this holiday season, Tommy Ryman has one. His new CD, Having the Time of My Life, is out this month. “I recorded it last year,” he says, “so in my new headlining set, I might do some old stuff, but I’ll want the majority of it to be newer stuff.” He reports that he’s been working on goofier bits about technology, while still looking to his family for inspiration. “My father watched a documentary about people who live in their cars,” he notes. “He said he’s thinking about doing that because he doesn’t like stuff. I told him, ‘That’s a pretty drastic decision. If you don’t like stuff, there are places that will take it away. You can donate it.’” He also wondered how the news would go down with his mother. “You like this four-bedroom, two-bathroom house? How about a no-bed, no-bath, but with way more doors?” 18+.
