When Jerry Seinfeld was looking for someone to host The Marriage Ref, he needed to look no further than his old pal and fellow comic Tom Papa. "We've been on the road together for a long time," Papa notes, "and we have both been married for about the same amount of time." The two would often swap stories about marital strife, and they soon came to a conclusion. "Everybody's the same," he says. "It doesn't matter how different and cool you think your relationship is, you're the same as everybody else. When Jerry came up with the idea for the show, he couldn't have asked anybody else to host it. If he had I would have beat him up." So far, it's been the perfect gig for Papa, who has always focused on talking about family and friends in his act. He's not limited to the marital stuff, though. "I've been talking about living with dudes," he explains. "That stage you go through when you're single and you have other roommates and they're all dudes? There's nothing worse than that house. You go into the bathroom, and it's literally the most disgusting place on earth. It's like a rain forest; you come out with bite marks and scrapes from the hard towels." 18+.
