It's been a fun year for comedian TJ Miller. He had two hilarious appearances on the Conan O'Brien Show and released a DVD (No Real Reason) and a 41-track comedy/music CD called Extended Play. "That was pretty fun," he says of the CD, "because I'm not a musician at all. I played saxophone a little bit in middle school." Still, he had a burning desire to parody the current state of the music industry. "I wanted to do a thing that's making fun of the trend of rappers who think they can act and actors who think they can rap and John Mayer thinking he can do standup when he's wrong about that, he's just wrong." Miller's comedy can be described as controlled chaos. "That's a pretty good way of putting it," he says. "I like to think of myself as a polite maniac, or being meticulous about being ridiculous. I try to make a healthy serving of comedy that each type of person can enjoy. There's observational stuff, there are real stories, and then there some things that are not based in reality at all. It's a little weirder than some people like." Then again, maybe people like a little weirdness, something to which his increasing fan base will certainly attest. 18+; 21+ later shows.
