The Works: A Writers' Salon

Writing gets meta for Lightsey Darst's monthly series called "The Works: A Writers' Salon." Darst, a poet and arts journalist, has published the chapbook Ginnungagap (Red Dragonfly Press, 2009) as well as Find the Girl (Coffee House Press, 2010), and also runs the What Light poetry contest at For "The Works," Darst hosts guest writers talking about writing as an art form— "its aesthetics, ethics, poetics, hermeneutics, erotics, and just plain tics" according to her website, with the added benefits of alcohol to liven up the discussion and BLB's laid back atmosphere to keep it real. This week Darst is joined by Charlie Conley, who'll be talking about MFAs. Conley, who graduated from the University of Minnesota's MFA program in 2006, will surely have some perspective to share about his own experience. (Photo by geoftheref)
