The Women in Crisis Film Series: The Landlady

For the past couple of years, the Women in Crisis Film Series has nobly screened craptastic films that had previously been banished to $1 VHS bins or aired late at night on "women-friendly" cable channels. Each evening features an awesomely awful flick, plenty of bitchy commentary from event creator David Hanbury and friends, and lots and lots of booze. Audience participation a la Mystery Science Theater 3000 is also welcome, and things usually devolve — in the best way — into a hot mess by the end of the show. This week's installment stars Talia Shire, a member of the Coppola family who is best known for her iconic roles in Rocky and The Godfather series. In The Landlady, she plays a psychotic caretaker fixated on seducing and wedding one of her tenants. This plan results in a rage-filled bloodbath with nary a wedding bell. Unsurprising, given that the movie's tag line is "Evil doesn't knock ... It has the key!"
