The Santa Run
We've all heard the lame joke about lawyers running after ambulances, but let's give credit where it's due: At the annual Santa Run, real lawyers dress up like Santa Claus (with a few dreidels thrown in for good measure) and run to raise cash for those who are without funds but in desperate need of legal council. Not a lawyer? No problem: Teens, kids, dogs, and other adults are invited to run, walk, and waddle the 1.4-mile route as well. Simply raise a minimum of $100 in pledges, bring a new toy for Toys for Tots, and pay the entrance fee. Santa beards, hats, and suits will be provided and should fit right over your clothes; kids under 12 receive a Santa hat (homemade dreidel costumes are also welcome). Warm up afterward with hot chocolate, live music, and general smile-inducing, costumed tomfoolery. All funds raised go toward providing free civil legal services for poor and disadvantaged Minnesotans. Go to www.midmnlegal.org for full details or call 612.746.3703. $15; $20 day of registration (adults must raise $100 in donations, teens 13 to 17 must raise $50).
