Dark & Stormy Productions started as a way to showcase top Twin Cities talents. The company is led by Sally Wingert and Bill McCallum, two performers often found at some of the biggest theaters in town and beyond. They are joined by Harry Waters Jr. and Dark & Stormy artistic director Sara Marsh for The Receptionist, a regional premiere of a recent play by Adam Bock. Like Dark & Stormy's first two productions, The Receptionist will be performed in a nontraditional setting. In this case, it's an empty fifth-floor office at Artspace's Traffic Zone Center for Visual Art in downtown Minneapolis. Bock's play centers on the mysterious goings-on at an office that seems to be like any other, with employees as concerned about their outside troubles as the work on their desks. That all changes with a mysterious visitor and an absent boss gumming up the works. Bock's play was developed at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center's National Playwrights Conference, and went on to play in New York. Benjamin McGovern directs. (Photo by Tony Nelson)
