The Nude in Minnesota II

Some may say that the naked form is the artist's original muse. Renaissance artists like Michelangelo and Donatello spent their entire lives studying and perfecting their renditions of it. And even in this modern age, interpretations and depictions are as varied and thought provoking as in any previous era. This Friday, Gallery 332 will celebrate the nude form through the works of eight Minnesotan photographers. Some works, like Mona Ruff-Saer's black-and-white pieces, are matter-of-fact, bold, and honest. Matthew Scherfenberg's nudes range from simple and classic to bright and fabulous. H Morgen's nudes are a little porn-y, but with a sharp edge. Using both male and female models, this show demonstrates how nude photography is as diverse as the human form itself. Opening reception 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, May 1.
