The Mississippi/Volga III Dance Festival
Under the tireless direction of Lisa First, Link Vostek fosters global collaborations in dance and performance. This year's program bursts with international verve, including a provocative pairing of Hungarian dance artist Ferenc Feher and Russian musician Dimitry Cheglakov, and a musical mélange of Cheglakov performing with Michelle Kinney and Jacqueline Ultan of Jelloslave in a new work composed by Mary Ellen Childs specifically for the festival. Hungarian dancer Judit Simon joins Minnesota's sublime Erin Thompson and Feher in a work begun last year in Russia. The evening also includes "Handcrafted Replicas" by previous festival participants Judith Howard, Thompson, and Laurie Van Wieren. Finally, German artist Till Poehlmann mixes it up with our own percussive geniuses Buckets and Tap Shoes for some intercontinental mayhem.
