The Lion King
It's a little hard to believe that 10 years have gone by since The Lion King premiered in Minneapolis. Since then, this humble, mind-blowing musical extravaganza has gone on to capture an embarrassment of riches, both in terms of awards and the usual remunerative variety. This U.S. tour is actually one of two playing in the states, not including the Broadway production. Then there's London, South Korea, Hamburg, and Johannesburg, all of which are doing the "Hakuna Matata." You know the story: Royal machinations lead to the death of the lion scion's dad; he goes into exile and cavorts with a flatulent warthog. The leonine Jeremy Irons (not appearing in this production, presumably) runs the kingdom into the ground, and young Simba returns to set things right. Masks, puppets, and astonishing visuals lend extra oomph. $26-$81. 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, plus 2:00 p.m. Saturday; 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Tuesdays-Thursdays, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 2 p.m.; Sundays, 1 & 6 p.m. Starts: Oct. 25. Continues through Nov. 25, 2007
