The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
The headless horseman rides again! Walking Shadow Theatre Company builds on a successful 2012 with a local version of a show originally created in 2010 for audiences at the Jon Hassler Theatre in Plainview. The company's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow features a script by Walking Shadow founder John Heimbuch, which was further developed by the original ensemble and director Jon Ferguson. Both Heimbuch and Ferguson are innovative artists. Here, they take a story familiar to everyone — Ichabod Crane, his love Katarina Van Tassel, rival Brom Bones, and the legendary horseman who could come between them — and explore it to the core. Along the way, the show takes a look at folklore, the imagination, and what happens when a stranger arrives in a small, intimate community. Ferguson and Heimbuch previously worked together on adaptations of Moby Dick, On the White Whale, and S. Gunter Klaus and the Story Before. The company includes Ryan Lear as Crane, Joanna Harmon as Katrina, and Brant Miller as Brom. (Photo by Eric Melzer)
