The Growler's 2nd Birthday Beer Bash
The Growler magazine was set to celebrate its two-year anniversary this weekend at A Taste of Minnesota, but due to the Mississippi flooding, that festival has relocated to Carver County Fairgrounds in Waconia. Meanwhile, the beer-lover's rag is hopping over to Minneapolis for some b-day drinking. This Thursday, folks can kick off Fourth of July weekend with some brew at the Nomad, where Growler editors and contributing writers will be toasting to another year. The Growler is a bi-monthly magazine that covers the world of craft beer, as well as the culture and business surrounding it. It's published by the folks who host the Beer Dabbler happenings you see around town at events like Twin Cities Pride Festival and the Saint Paul Winter Carnival. This beer bash will feature a variety of firkins from local breweries, food trucks selling snacks to enjoy, music from DJ Backpain, and a silent disco (this entails folks dancing around while quietly listening to their iPods). Later in the evening, a beer-themed movie will be viewed on the JumboTron, which has been screening World Cup games the past couple of weeks. (Photo by Aaron Davidson)
