The Twin Cities comedy and music communities mix in this dual bill. The Drug Budget, the ever-fluctuating local nine-piece, paired up Robert Fones, a standup comedian and producer for alt-comedy crew Boy Kisses, for the Feel Real Fear
split EP. The DB's "garage orchestra" sound combines metal licks, bombastic drums, and soul-inspired horn and backing vocals. Live, the giant group swirl their sounds together in manic frenzies that earn the alleged "Most Torque and Horsepower" award they proudly list on their Facebook page. Frontman Vain Mainstream (a.k.a. David W. Gibson) regularly does shirtless push-ups onstage, so expect sonic and physical muscle flexing at Friday's release party. Boy Kisses will open the night with sketch comedy, videos, and standup. Grape Whales and CCWD also perform.
