The Beer Dabbler Winter Carnival
The Saint Paul Winter Carnival may have begun as a little "f" you to an East Coast writer who wondered what we could do with ourselves all winter long. (Short answer: lots of things — check the birth rate in September.) However, the festival has only grown in attendance over the years, and one of the most popular events is the annual Beer Dabbler. On Saturday, attendees can sip an unlimited amount of beer while warming up with a little food-truck fare. This year promises to be even bigger than before, with over 100 breweries serving over 300 varieties of beer, including local, regional, and national brews. In addition to wrapping your wooly mitts around delicious pours, there will be plenty of entertainment with two stages of music: the Nomad World Pub boasts BloodnStuff, Silverback Colony, and Church of Cash while the Wirtz Beverage Minnesota stage has Heiruspecs, the Chalice, and Koo Koo Kanga Roo. Also returning is the Leinenkugel's Silent Disco. But it's really about the beer, right? They'll be tapping the Dabbler's Oak Barrel Brew, a special one-time beer from last year's Lord Dabbler's Cup winner Stone Brewing Company. Food trucks serving grub will include Gastrotruck, Fork in the Road, Stanley's on Wheels, Natedog's, Vellee Deli, Potter's Pasties, Simply Steve's, and the Tot Boss. The party rages on snow or shine.
