It makes sense that Tellabration!, a festival celebrating storytelling, is honored worldwide. After all, the act of passing down tall tales, epic yarns, and true histories through the generations is most likely as old as the campfire itself. This weekend, Minnesota's thriving spoken-word community will come together to teach and explore this ancient-yet-modern art through workshops, classes, open mics, and concerts for kids, teens, and adults. The event kicks off on Friday with an evening concert featuring performances from Peter Cook, Marcie Rendon, and Ward Rubrecht among others. Saturday will start early with kid-friendly entertainment, followed by open mics, workshops, and other happenings covering various topics. The celebration ends that night with an open-mic story slam where everyone is invited to share their best material. Visit northstarstorytelling.org for more information. $15 Friday; admission varies per event Saturday. 7 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday with a final performance at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Fri., Nov. 25, 7 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 26, 10 a.m.; Sun., Nov. 27, 10 a.m., 2011
