SuperGroup: The Tent Has Been Pulled Down
Since the three members of SuperGroup — Sam Johnson, Erin Search-Wells, and Jeffrey Wells — returned to their native Minneapolis from Brooklyn, the collaborative, interdisciplinary ensemble has been delighting and wowing audiences with super-imaginative explorations that blur the boundaries of dance, theater, and performance art. Their newest work, which is part of Red Eye Theater's New Works 4 Weeks/Isolated Acts Festival, is accompanied by something called "femblog noise," which could reference future electronic music blogs or the feminist blogosphere — or both. Layered with text, movement, lighting (Heidi Eckwall), and decor (Abbey Kleinert), the work investigates "techno-ontological vastness" and identity. Thought-provoking, without a doubt.
