Summer Beer Dabbler
After a long, cold winter followed by a dismal spring, the bright summer weather is perfect for sprouting one of our favorite regionally grown delicacies: craft beer. Sure, there might be foragers who argue, but we contend that nothing has been so fertile a crop beyond the yeasty, hoppy, minimally headed local brews. New breweries are popping up everywhere, not unlike the arrival of new food trucks that seem to materialize daily. There is no better event to discover all the new quaffables and street-food vendors than at the Beer Dabbler. This Saturday, the Dabbler returns to the Saintly City, gathering at Upper Landing Park for the Summer Beer Dabbler. Here, sippers will gather to sample over 200 brews from more than 65 breweries. As with every Beer Dabbler, attendees will also help choose who will be awarded the Lord Dabbler's Cup. Other entertainment includes the Silent Disco (where participants rock out to their own beat, much to the amusement of onlookers), and live music. Hardcore hop heads and entry-level brew lovers will also enjoy the Education Tent, where they can learn more about everybody's favorite beverage. Food trucks in attendance include Hola Arepa, Stanley's on Wheels, Fork in the Road, and Natedogs. For tickets and more info, visit www.thebeerdabbler.com. (Photo by Aaron Davidson)
