Suburbs v. Cities

It's a strange rivalry, but it exists. For decades cities have ragged on the suburbs and vice versa, poking fun at cultural and lifestyle differences both subtle and dramatic. Regardless of any individual biases, there are pros and cons to calling either home—diversity, school districts, parking, and nearby businesses all included. In this group show at Altered Esthetics, 25 artists will create works exploring both environments. Pieces range from book art to paintings to photography to sculpture. The opening reception is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, July 2. There will also be an artists' discussion panel at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 17. (Toni Dachis, Glenwood Avenue)
