Stick Em Up
To some, stickers are merely kids' stuff, be they gold stars earned for top grades or scratch 'n' sniffs traded as currency on the playground. But for many, one is never too old to enjoy excellent sticker art. These folks adorn their guitar cases with band stickers, their car bumpers with political statements, and nearby telephone polls and power boxes with subversive messages. This Thursday and Friday, the David Paul Seymour A+D Gallery in Northrup King Studios will be exhibiting sticker art from dozens of local and national artists. Here guests will be able to see the wide variety of styles and approaches artists take with this unique medium, including works featuring adorable waffles with wings; a creepy, strung-out Toucan Sam; and edgy camera-as-gun creations. So whether you're looking to decorate your old beater, add another layer to your laptop collection, or find a piece for your wall, something is sure to stick as thousands of works will be on display and for sale.
