St. Patrick's Day Parades
Be thankful that St. Patrick's Day falls on a Saturday this year. If you want to go to the earlier parade, you won't have to worry about finding a way to skip out of work. If you plan on drinking, you'll have Sunday to be hungover and recoup. And if you're the type who hops a bus and heads into downtown on the weekends anyway, you'll be able to score free rides after 6 p.m. on MetroTransit. The Minneapolis St. Patrick's Day Parade (763.234.7111, www.mplsstpats.org) starts a little later in the day, with things commencing at 6:30 p.m. at Nicollet Mall and 13th Street, and then traveling to Fifth Street. Irish pubs nearby include the Local, Kieran's Irish Pub, and O'Donovan's Irish Pub. If you're looking to celebrate the holiday away from downtown, Merlins Rest and Keegan's Irish Pub are also worth checking out. (Photo by Rachelle Carlson)
