St. George Greek Festival
Another weekend, another festival featuring cultural performances and traditional food. This time it's Greece's turn to entertain us. St. George, located at the corner of Summit and Lexington, should do well doing just that. Interesting items on the menu include pastitsio (seasoned beef, baked macaroni, and a cheese and milk sauce reminiscent of hot dish), souvlaki (seasoned pork shish kebabs), and galatoboureko (egg custard, phyllo dough, and syrup). Oh, and they'll have fries and baklava, easy choices should "new" foods make you squeamish. Throughout the day guests can also enjoy traditional dance, live music, church tours, family activities (yes, there will be inflatables), and vendors.
Sat., Aug. 22, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sun., Aug. 23, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., 2009
