As a part of the Minnesota History Center's new exhibit, "American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition," several local booze makers will be hosting Speakeasy Saturdays at the museum. At these happenings, local brewers and distillers will be serving up samples and telling attendees a little bit more about their wares. On December 21 and January 4, the spotlighted speakeasy will be Great Waters Brewing, the downtown St. Paul brewpub located on St. Peter Street. January 11 and February 1 will feature Dashfire Bitters, a company that's housed in the old Hamm's Brewery (also where the forthcoming 11 Wells Distillery will reside). On February 15, curious sippers can sample beers from Summit Brewing, known for being a leader in the local craft-beer resurgence. A word to imbibers: These are booze-centeric events, so plan on bringing ID that proves you are 21 or older.
