As with Sunday's main event, the performers (and surprise special guests) at Soundset's before and after parties represent widely different factions of the hip-hop universe. The biggest name of the bunch is all-around musical visionary Questlove. The virtuoso drummer has led the Roots for 29 years, including the past seven serving as Jimmy Fallon's late-night house band. He'll DJ Sunday's after party that also features the Get Cryphy DJs, Supreme La Rock, DJ Skeme Richards, and King Otto. Saturday's pre-party is heavy on Rhymesayers artists and other Minnesota talent, including RSE's Grieves, deM atlaS, and DJ Abilities, plus fresher faces like Sarah White and Nazeem & Spencer Joles. Nazeem & Joles' The Album
, the debut from the young Minneapolis duo, is unquestionably one of the year's best local indie-rap releases. Mr. Peter Parker and Brother Ali host on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
