This weekend's performances at the Southern Theater feature solos from six dancers, all recipients of McKnight Artist Fellowships in either 2008 or 2009. Technique and style vary wildly from one artist to the next, but perhaps the most unique aspect of the show is that recipients were asked to choose who would choreograph their pieces for them—a rare opportunity indeed. The result of this project features pairings of local dancers with choreographers who hail from all around the world, including Kats D. Fukasawa with Katsura Kan (Japan), Justin Leaf with John Kelly (New York), and Roxane Wallace with Vincent Mantsoe (South Africa/France), among others. Thursday night's opening show is preceded by a champagne reception and a post-show celebration, Saturday's performance will be followed by a post-show talk, and Sunday features a post-show cast and audience get-together at the Red Stag Supperclub.
