Shinders: An Exhibition
Busted floors, crumbling plaster, puddles, and exposed light sockets. This might not sound like the ideal space for art, but this is not your typical gallery show. As the old Shinders space continues to fall apart, it will not do so alone. For the past few weeks the abandoned store has been filled with works of art, many created directly onsite, by 36 artists in a show intended to be both edgy and unique, suggesting that art carries on even while commerce struggles. Participants include Alec Soth, Matthew Bakkom, Janet Lobberecht, and Aaron Spangler, among others. This will be the last weekend to check out this unusual exhibit.
Fridays, 2-10 p.m.; Saturdays, 12-6 p.m.; Thursdays, 2-8 p.m. Starts: Oct. 9. Continues through Oct. 30, 2009
