She's Not There: The Myth of the Muse
Who is Marlene Tupy? According to Facebook, she lives in St. Paul, likes potato chips, cherry licorice, and "lots of expensive gifts (Example — BMW)," and "knows Mexican Spanish, Latin, Norwegian." She's also the sole model for the photo exhibition "She's Not There: The Myth of the Muse" opening this weekend. Curated by Douglas Beasley, the show includes works by 20 artists from throughout the U.S. and Canada. The artists created their images during workshops at the Minneapolis Photo Center, and at Vision Quest workshops in the Badlands and Wisconsin. So why Tupy? See the show and draw your own conclusions. There will be an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, January 25. (Gabriela Husch, Seeing Through)
