Sharon Louden: Movement & Gesture
The 250,000 units of aluminum flashing that make up Sharon Louden's sculpture Merge are still rising up and cascading down the walls of the Weisman Art Museum. This weekend, bits and pieces will migrate to the Burnet Gallery as well, as Louden's companion exhibition opens with three new sculptural compositions of the same flashing ripples across the gallery's walls. The New York artist's show also includes paintings, drawings, and videos in which bold lines, vivid colors, and minimal shapes capture mid-motion expressiveness. The two exhibitions plant Louden's vivacious and kinetic abstraction on both sides of the Mississippi River. The opening reception is from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 1.
