Leave it to interdisciplinary artist Jaime Carrera to continually wow us with hilarity and subversiveness. His newest evening at the Bryant-Lake Bowl takes Solid Gold, the quintessentially 1980s variety show famous for its lusty dance numbers set to pop hits, as its inspiration. The resulting performance art show, SENSATION, has a fantastic lineup, including drag queen extraordinaire Stephen Herzog (a.k.a. Barbie Q), BLB's own managing artistic director Kristin Van Loon, choreographer Chris Schlichting, and modern-dance artist Joanna Furnans. There will also be a performance from Dykes Do Drag alum Audra Tracy, performance artist Fiona MacNeill, and other special guests. It's sure to be a fun ride, as the press release promises "an extravaganza worthy of Eighties debauchery and excess." Audiences are encouraged to come dressed in their most "atrocious Eighties ensembles," so go wild.
Sundays, 6 p.m. Starts: April 22. Continues through April 29, 2012
