Iconic indie-rockers and emo progenitors Sebadoh return to the road supporting their first album in 14 years, Defend Yourself. Lou Barlow always expressed romantic regret as well as any songwriter in the game, and he's at his most poignant here. The collapse of his 25-year-marriage is woven into wobbly rhythms and buzzing riffs that have long defined Sebadoh. His partner in crime and occasional lead vocalist Jason Lowenstein's harder-rocking contributions help keep the album from becoming too mired in post-divorce depression. With Octa#Grape.
