Salon Saloon: Heavy 100 year-end review
As 2012 draws to a close, media outlets will crank out as many year-end lists as possible. Why? Because regardless of whether readers agree with the selections made, lists and countdowns usually give folks something to think about and discuss. At the December edition of Salon Saloon, local artists, musicians, authors, intellectuals, and other creative and inquisitive types will share their top picks, defend their suggestions, and contemplate the nominations of others with host Andy Sturdevant. According to series organizers Works Projects, the event's covering-all-bases list "showcases the year's most notable achievements in all fields of human endeavor." Meaning Frank Ocean, that dude who sky-dived from space, and President Obama could, in theory, all make the grade. Along the way guests will share stories, perform music, and lead hands-on audience activities. This will be the series' first double-header, with 50 topics explored in the first show, and another 50 in the later presentation.
