Saint Paul's Wild Winter Wonderland
So you've eaten your fill of turkey, spent enough time on the couch watching cable, and now you're ready to get out of the house. For those looking for something holiday-oriented that doesn't involve driving over to the dreaded shopping mall, the Wild Winter Wonderland at RiverCentre may be your speed. Here attendees will find things to do that are more novel than waiting in line for Santa, including exploring a forest filled with artist-decorated trees and wreaths, which were part of last week's benefit for the HealthEast Foundation's Festival of Trees. This will be the first year that the seasonal pieces will be on view for the public. Local chefs will whip up gingerbread houses for display and compete for dominance in the art of sugar architecture. Kids can create wooden toys with the help of elves, while those still hungry can sample treats. And, yes, if the urge really strikes you, there will be vendors for shopping at this event as well.
Fri., Nov. 27, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 28, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sun., Nov. 29, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., 2009
