Saint Paul Art Crawl
When the first Saint Paul Art Crawl took place 31 years ago, the festival was mostly contained within Lowertown. Now, the event has grown exponentially to include pretty much every region of the city. For the next three days, over 325 artists will open their studio doors or set up pop-up galleries filled with art, activities, and performances. If you're looking for something cool but are on a budget, be sure to stop by the Tilsner Building where the Art Vending Machine, a converted antique cigarette machine, will be selling $5 mini-art to benefit the crawl and Altered Esthetics. Lowertown Wine and Spirits will be inviting people in on Friday and Saturday for music and tastings. Other happenings include kid-friendly Wiffle ball games in Mears Park, a solar-powered laptop marching band at McNally Smith, visits from Art Cars, spoken word from Desdamona and Carnage, and DJ sets from members of Solid Gold. Call 651.292.4373 or visit www.artcrawl.org for more info and a complete list of locations. (Kevan Willington, Meadowlark Rose)
