Now in its eighth season, RuPaul's Drag Race
is still one of the more entertaining reality competition shows out there. It's not surprising the formula works. Each cycle features plenty of villains and rivalries, celebrity impersonations, epic lip-sync dance offs, train-wreck sewing projects, and a healthy dose of glitter. But while each installment employs a big dose of humor, the show also touches on weighty topics in compelling ways, as queens honestly share their life stories and struggles. Past contestants have grappled with living with HIV, trying to raise a son while homeless, being bullied in school, and immigrating to the U.S. Tonight's performance won't be heavy, however, as Michelle Visage will play host and judge past competitors as they perform. The Minneapolis leg of the worldwide tour includes BenDeLaCreme, Jinkx Monsoon, Ginger Minj, Manila Luzon, Sharon Needles, and others.
