Experience the liveliness and verve of African fashion when Runway Africa hits Minneapolis's Epic event center. Presenting a surfeit of international and local designers, the fashion show features Project Runway alums Korto Momulu and Minnesota native Christopher Straub. Hailing from Liberia, Momolu went to fashion school in Canada before moving to the United States and appearing on Project Runway Season 5 with her bold and vibrant pieces inspired by her African roots. Straub, originally from the Twin Cities, won a coveted spot as a finalist on season six of Project Runway, where he showed off his ultra-feminine designs with a modern edge. The Runway Africa lineup also includes designs from talents such as Lalesso, Mami Afrika, Clad Nine, Modahnik, Mekdi Design, and Ariel Simone. Designers will highlight dazzling variations on the versatile khunga, a traditional African garment usually wrapped around the body. Kenyan neo-soul and R&B sensation Mercy Myra will perform live. The show promises an energetic runway exhibition that will spill over into a late-night afterparty upstairs in Epic's 110 Lounge. 18+. (Pictured: Fashion by by Modahnik)
