Roy Wood Jr.

Fans of the TBS sitcom Sullivan and Son will recognize comedian Roy Wood Jr. The veteran comic plays Roy, a bar regular on the series. While he welcomes TV work, standup is still his first love. "My act now is more about things that make me want to punch walls," he says. "It could be something as simple as paying for extra sauce when I order chicken nuggets. I still consider that to be one the greatest travesties in this country in terms of just extorting the working man. It's worse than the $50 fee for luggage." Condiment issues aside, things are going well for the Birmingham, Alabama, native. In addition to his steady gig on Sullivan and Son, his prank calls continue to be syndicated to dozens of radio markets, as well as being featured on Jamie Foxx's satellite radio program. Onstage, he has been talking more about sports and how some of the smaller sports might compete with the NFL. "I was ragging on my buddies who are big fans of Michael Phelps," he says. "I think what he did is good for the country, but you'd still be hard pressed to get somebody to put swimming on at a sports bar on a Sunday afternoon against the first round of the NFL playoffs. If you want swimming to compete with football you have to put a gator in the pool." 18+.
