One of the Joke Joint's—or anybody's—best finds of last year, New York-based comic Rory Scovel returns to the club this week. His easygoing stage presence and whimsically warped jokes earned him a spot on Live at Gotham, which is consistently Comedy Central's hippest and best-cast standup outlet, but it's his sharp improv skills that keep his longer sets energetic and unique. Scovel is bringing along a pal, fellow D.C.-to-New York transplant Andy Haynes, who will open the show. "We're pretty similar in that Andy works well off the cuff and knows how to have fun and play around with the crowd," Scovel says. They also share a certain sensibility. "I don't want to call it pothead humor, but it is a little fantastical and weird. It's not about pot and you don't have to be a pothead or even have ever smoked it, it's just...well, that's how we wrote the jokes."
