Rooted: Hip-Hop Choreographers' Evening

Hip hop has migrated from the streets to the stage without losing face or the radical spontaneity that infects the genre. Eighteen of the Twin Cities' hottest groups and individuals to practice the form congregate at Patrick's Cabaret this weekend, with special guest star King Bugaloo Tut, creator of the King Tut style of popping. This tribute to hip-hop dance's roots and branches features performers ranging from veteran West African dance man Morris Johnson to B-Boy J-Sun (Jason Noer) to groups like Voice of Culture and Xclusive Banditsz. And let's not forget the ladies, represented by the excellent Amy Sackett, Ellena Schoop, and Lily Stone.
