Revolver: Confess

Who needs a priest when you can let off some steam at Confess, an evening of confessions, dancing, and drinking hosted by local literary magazine Revolver. The group made a big splash last year with its launch party at Uppercut Gym, pitting four creative hipsters against each other in the ring. This Saturday, Revolver has concocted what looks to be another bash to set the town buzzing. Far from the typical literary happening, Confess invites attendees to visit four "confession" booths. At the first station — which is part of 2011 Bush Foundation Fellow Emily Baxter's project, We Are All Criminals — you can listen to confessions from folks who got away with their crimes. At the second stop, someone will sit at a table and confess to you. At the third station, Baxter will be on hand to listen and collect your confession (should you choose to give one). Then, in the final booth, you'll be able to listen to confessions from that night. After leaving the weight of your admission behind, you'll have a chance to dance to music from DJ Shannon Blowtorch (voted Best DJ of 2013 by City Pages' readers). Other experiential surprises include art from multimedia sculptor Chris Larson and beer from Red Stag Supper Club (a portion of the evening's donations benefit Rock Star Supply Co., an educational organization working with at-risk high-school students).
