RetroRama: Underneath it All
Flaunt it if you've got it—vintage, that is. Classic fashion reigns over fleeting modern trends at RetroRama, where donning that decades-old outfit will definitely be in style. Hosted by the Minnesota History Center, RetroRama promises a fashionable blast from the past highlighting Minnesota's racy role in making skivvies way back when. Sneak a peek at undergarment-inspired collections from famed local designers, including Christopher Straub, Danielle Everine, Samantha Rei, Heather Luca, and Sarah White. These hot sartorial talents will show off their lines during the Underneath It All fashion show. DJ extraordinaire Jake Rudh will spin killer beats while author Susan Marks comments on the historic significance of the best looks on the runway. For visitors lacking that special something to complete their retro ensemble, Blacklist Vintage will have some apparel and accessories available for purchase. After the show, everyone with vintage swagger is invited to flaunt their own ensembles on the catwalk. Nibble on deliciously sweet treats from Michelle Gayer's Salty Tart Bakery, and wash it down with a retro cocktail expertly mixed by Iron Bartender Jasmine Poland. Can't get enough of this slightly naughty brand of Minnesota nice? Take a gander at "Underwear: A Brief History," the Minnesota History Center's newest and most revealing exhibit, or bring the magic home with a signed copy of Marks's book In the Mood for Munsingwear.
