RetroRama: Timeless Fashion
This Friday, the always fabulous RetroRama returns to remind us that great style is timeless. Each year, the Minnesota History Center invites a handful of local designers to create fashions that look to the past for inspiration. Hitting the runway this spring will be pieces from Danielle Everine, Laura Fulk, Sarah M. Holm, Max Lohrbach, and Kerry Riley. Each talent will be making two getups inspired by Minnesota's great outdoors and summer happenings. Think picnics in the park, trips to the cabin, and evenings spent catching fireflies by the lake. Menswear will also be making its first appearance at the event since 2007. The runway part of the evening, which will include vintage clothes and will be DJ'd by Jake Rudh, has been moved indoors to the auditorium, where fashionistas will be able to take an even closer look at pieces as models walk though the audience. Revelers will also be able to play carnival games with Lili's Burlesque troupe; shop at pop-up boutiques from Flamingo's Divine Finds, Cliché, Blacklist Vintage, and Spectacle Shoppe; enjoy cocktail demonstrations and samples from Bittercube mixologists; watch old-fashioned shaving demos with Moustache Jim and GENT salon; and dance to music from the Starlight Razors. The after-party will be hosted by Amsterdam Bar and Hall. (Pictured: Emma Berg and Max Lohrbach at last year's festivities)
