Red Hot Art
This weekend, Stevens Square Park will be hosting Red Hot Art. The two-day festival features hundreds of local creative types onstage, in booths, and at pop-up art stations. There will be jams from 30 musical acts, including Sean Anonymous, Zoo Animal, Black Market Brass Band, and Lydia Hoglund of Bomba de Luz, with performances as well from the Afro-Brazilian Capoeira Association, Brave New Workshop, and others. During the festival, over 100 visual artists will be selling and displaying artworks, all priced at $5 to $50. Featured artists include photographer Monica Howell, card maker Aliya White, and illustrator Lucas Gluesenkamp, whose pieces range from bold and graphic to hauntingly mysterious in tone and appearance. Other happenings throughout the event include mobile screen-printing demos from Living Proof Collective, free bike tune-ups from the Hub, food from local vendors, community organizations offering info, and hands-on activities.
