Quintron & Miss Pussycat

Based in New Orleans, Quintron & Miss Pussycat have established new beachheads of eccentricity with their wondrous musical and theatrical concoctions. With Q's gurgling organ, homemade rhythm contraptions, Miss P's cheerleader vocals, widespread ambient solicitations, quirky costumes, and surrealistic puppets, they suggest some crossbreeding of '60s garage bands, Mr. Wizard, the B-52s, and Pee Wee's Playhouse. Q broadly defines the music as "swamp tech," incorporating pop, funk, rock, analog electronics, boogie, and experimental tangents. Q & P's most prominent album, Sucre du Sauvage, was recorded in 2010 during a residency at New Orleans's Museum of Art. Half the songs are relatively familiarly formatted tunes played live; the rest are sound collages built around ambient recordings. Opening will be the Dutch band zZz, who mix electronic dance beats, industrial crunch, and vintage R&B. 18+.
