Ports of Call
Ethnic Dance Theatre (EDT) may be based in Minneapolis, but the troupe's focus is on the wide, wide world of dance and music. This weekend's concert by the 36-year-old EDT features a diverse array of artistic selections from Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Egypt, Greece, India, Latvia, Lebanon, Norway, and Turkey, all staged by guest Ahmet Luleci and EDT artistic director Donald LaCourse, plus resident choreographers Meredith Holt and Anne von Bibra Wharton. Natalie Nowytski will also lend her versatile vocal talents to the festive mix. You can always count on a high-energy performance by the EDT dancers, not to mention rollicking live music, dazzling and authentic costumes, and the rich celebration of traditional culture made relevant—and memorable—in the 21st century.
April 9-10, 8 p.m.; Sun., April 11, 2 p.m., 2010
