Pollinator Party: A Celebration of Bees
Bees are more than just makers of honey, they also play an important role in the reproduction of flowers, fruits, veggies, and nuts. This Thursday, Lyndale Park Gardens off of Lake Harriet will be celebrating all things bee with Pollinator Party, an event filled with activities for folks of all ages. There will be plenty of tasty treats available, including honey ice cream and Minnesota honey sampling. Guests will also be able to learn about urban beekeeping, pick up some recipes, and find out what we can do to protect bees, which have been dwindling in population over the years due to pesticide use. Games, art activities, and take-home crafts will also be plentiful. Music will be provided by Pop Wagner, Dreamland Faces, and the Brass Messengers. A screening of Wings of Life, a documentary that follows bees and other small flower-loving creatures, such as hummingbirds, butterflies, and bats, will cap the evening.
