While it's easy to describe comedian Pete Correale as a guy from Long Island who tells great jokes, actually making it look that simple took time. The first club owner to use him on a regular basis once told him that he got good faster than anyone that had come through his establishment. "But as far as what I've become," notes Correale, "that's been 15 years of honing the craft, and many years of being up there and going through all sorts of things; some nights I was angry and dropping the f-bomb. I went through a period where I was up there smoking. All the time, I was just trying to bring me to the stage. It's not as easy as it looks." It certainly has paid off. Correale appears frequently on the late-night chat shows and has his own critically acclaimed one-hour special on Comedy Central. He still feels he's developing, though. "I'm always trying to grow," he says. "Last week I came up with a whole new bit—that finally works—about hunting with my father-in-law. That to me is the only way I can do it, by constantly going up there and doing other stuff and getting better." 18+; later shows are 21+.
