Pelican / Nothing
Spending time in prison can provide plenty of time for songwriting. Philadelphia-bred shoegaze band Nothing's vocalist/guitarist Domenic "Nicky" Palermo did exactly that while serving a sentence for attempted murder. After releasing the album Guilty of Everything earlier this year, Nothing have garnered acclaim for their haunting sound, a wall of noise accompanied by Palermo's soothing, ghostlike vocals. (They also do a gorgeous cover of Low's "In Metal.") Headlining is Pelican, regarded highly for their instrumental atmospheric sound, tinged with elements of stoner rock and doom metal. Post-hardcore quartet Sweet Cobra will open. 18+.
